Data, Data, Database...

This week we take a behind the curtain look at a part of web architecture that client's do not see or interact with directly, but without these parts our websites would be static & difficult to maintain. I am talking about Database Management Systems or DMBS and the Programming Languages needed to keep it running. First, let's get a quick review of Databases and then we'll move into understanding the DBMS architecture. Finally, once again I will post a Project Update at the end! Let's get started.

It is important to note that the client of your DBMS is not your typical user. There are 2 clients of a DBMS and they are the Database Administrator & the Web Server.

Week 6 Database Server Installation & Configuration Take steps to install and configure the MySQL server
The firewall on the MySQL server workstation should permit only the root user to login from the localhost.
The root account must have a password.
Explain how to create a database, drvtest, to test the server with a single table, drvusers.
The table should have columns for
username, firstname, lastname, and e-mail.
Add five records to the table for testing purposes.
I am still working on last week's assignment to install & configure a web server for the project. I've been trying to really stop and apply more thought & trying to get more understanding from the project. Rather than just following the steps to get it done.
